The deerscent fence imitates the scent of a natural predator and thus discourages deer from laying their young in grass areas intended for haying. The principles of the scent fence are discussed in more detail in a separate article.
Odour fences do not harm fawns or roe deer due to the non-toxic and completely biodegradable composition of the concentrates and odour carriers.
The installation of a deer fence is neither difficult nor time-consuming. There are two methods of application for this type of fence - the prevention method or the rapid action method. In the prevention method, which can only be applied until 15 April of the year, the carriers of the BIO10-S odour concentrate are injected with the odour substance against the fawns and are placed in the meadow at a distance of 40 metres, with 9 carriers per hectare.
Always carry out the rapid action method at least three days before haying. The odour concentrate is applied directly to the ground using a longer tube. However, not every fawn is strong enough to manage to leave with its mother, so it is always better to choose the prevention method. For more detailed information on both methods, refer to the methodology for saving fawns from haying.
